Application procedure

The following steps are required to apply to The International Erasmus program in Barcelona:

  1. Review the classes you wish to take in either the English Track or the Spanish Track. Please see the Courses section if you are not sure for which track you should apply.  You may select between 12 to 15.5 credits per semester.
  2. Complete the application form (personal information and course selection).  We will contact you by email after this step, confirming receipt of your application and course selection.
  3. Send a copy of your academic transcript to applications@theinternationalerasmus.org
  4. Send a letter or email from your academic advisor or study abroad coordinator accepting any and all credits from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) as listed on the proposed curriculum (subject to change by UAB but with guarantee of same transferible credits).
  5. Interview with US Admissions Director in person or by telephone.  Spanish track applicants will be interviewed in Spanish and English.
  6. If you are selected you will receive a letter from The International Erasmus confirming your acceptance, and you will receive a letter from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona confirming your acceptance at the university.
  7. Once you receive the acceptance letter from the UAB, you must process your student visa in person at the Spanish embassy or consulate closest to you: click here to view the list of consulates and conditions for application.  Applications for student visas take approximately one month to process.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or difficulties. If you are studying for one semester you need to apply for the 180 day student visa. If you are studying for the whole academic year, you need to apply for the extended (more than 180 day) student visa.  NOTE: It is very important to apply for the correct visa as you cannot change your visa status once you are in Spain.

THE DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS FOR FALL SEMESTER and FULL YEAR 2011-2012 is JUNE 25th, 2011.

All the above requisites (except for the student visa) must be completed by this date, and full payment must be received.  We recommend applying as soon as possible as we only accept a limited number of qualified applicants.  Payment can be made by bank transfer or check payable to The International Erasmus LLC upon acceptance. Cancellations for any reason after being accepted and payment received will be reimbursed in the amount of $5000 per semester.
